The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, affirmed that the private initiative is meant for business, but it should also have a social content. In this sense, she mentioned that governments should seek not only profit but also to promote social responsibility among entrepreneurs. She emphasized the importance of differentiating between private business and public service.
Recently, Sheinbaum criticized the promotion made by the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, which has been mentioned in a judicial document as part of a possible million-dollar scam. The Mexican leader underscored the need to separate public practice from private interests in such situations.
According to a complaint shared on social media by the affected individuals themselves, the alleged "mega-scam" with the cryptocurrency $LIBRA would have affected more than 40,000 people with losses exceeding 4 billion dollars. In a morning press conference, Sheinbaum expressed her concern about this issue and questioned the role of a head of state in promoting private projects.
In her statements, the Mexican president highlighted the seriousness of the case and mentioned that, if confirmed, it would be extremely serious, especially given the extent of a president's powers to promote private interests. Sheinbaum stressed the importance of maintaining a separation between economic power and political power, reiterating that governments exist to serve the people and not to favor private interests to the detriment of society.
