A group of four leaders has filed the first criminal complaint against President Javier Milei for alleged fraud and illicit association related to the promotion on social networks of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, which attracted capital and immediately collapsed.
The complainants, including the leader of Unidad Popular, Claudio Lozano, believe that Milei participated in what they describe as "the biggest scam in the history of this sector" through a practice known as "Rugpull," where project developers inflate the value of a cryptocurrency to attract investors and then withdraw with the money.
The complaint requests a search warrant at the Quinta de Olivos and the Presidency of the Nation to confiscate electronic devices such as computers, phones, and tablets. According to the complainants, Milei's alleged involvement in the Cripto Libra scam, which left 40,000 cryptocurrency wallets entangled, evidences the contradictions between the rhetoric of the libertarian government and its speculative actions.
"The evident participation of President Javier Milei in the Cripto Libra scam, in which 40,000 crypto wallets got caught, only enhances the evidence regarding the lies with which this libertarian government intends to denounce an unpresentable political caste while practically maintaining its link with the lowest kind of speculative maneuvers, in which it traps and scams its unwitting followers," expressed Claudio Lozano.
It is expected that this will be the first of several complaints to be filed against President Milei in the Justice system, with other political leaders announcing their intention to follow this path.
