In the midst of an election year, Deputy Lisandro Nieri raises the inopportuneness of the debate on the suspension of the PASO, despite his support for the vote on the measure.

National deputy of the Civic Radical Union, Lisandro Nieri, expressed his support for the suspension of the PASO, despite considering it inappropriate to debate this issue in an election year. Nieri, who is aligned with Governor Alfredo Cornejo, lamented the possibility of seeing electoral opportunism or changes in the rules at this time.

During his intervention in the special session, Nieri highlighted that the cost of the PASO is insignificant compared to the national budget, but still supported the suspension with his vote. He pointed out that, despite the main component of PASO election spending, the issuance of ballots, no longer existing with the Unique Paper Ballot, the cost remains relevant in budgetary terms.

Initially, the governor of Mendoza opposed the suspension of the PASO, but ultimately agreed with Nieri to sign the bill being discussed in the session. Nieri stated: "I am embarrassed to be addressing this issue now with the pending matters we have and in the midst of an election year," emphasizing the perception of inopportuneness in this discussion.
