Argentina Withdraws from WHO Amid Controversy

The Chief of Staff, Agustín Rossi, criticized President Javier Milei for withdrawing Argentina from the World Health Organization, noting that this decision reflects subservience to Trump's stance and a disregard for science and research. From his social media, Rossi lamented the lost opportunities for cooperation in research, scientifically backed information, and early warnings to protect the population, calling the measure indicative of followers of the former U.S. president.

Criticism of this measure also came from other opposition politicians. Manuel Adorni, presidential spokesperson, announced that the President instructed Chancellor Gerardo Werthein to withdraw Argentina from the WHO. Gabriel Solano of the Workers' Party labeled Milei as a Trump puppet and described the measure as dangerous, considering it part of an offensive against public health that would favor the closure of hospitals and possible privatizations.

From the Huésped Foundation, Leandro Cahn warned that leaving the WHO would have serious health consequences, such as limiting access to vaccines and treatments for HIV through the organization's rotating fund. He also highlighted the crucial role of the WHO in promoting technology transfer and monitoring health outbreaks worldwide.

The government's decision to withdraw Argentina from the WHO has raised concerns among various sectors, given the fundamental role this organization plays in global public health.
