According to information obtained by Diario Mendoza Today, the mayor of Guaymallén, Marcos Calvente, will carry out a presentation on the restructuring of 25% of the positions in the municipality. However, it will not be mentioned that these individuals will be relocated outside the official organizational chart to avoid drawing attention from the opposition. A supposed monthly saving of 118.6 million pesos is highlighted with this measure.
In this presentation, Calvente will address the following specific changes: 4 positions will be reduced in departments, representing a decrease of 17%; 5 positions will be eliminated in subdepartments, implying a reduction of 6.0%; and there will be 63 fewer positions in leadership roles, representing a reduction of 30%. The mayor will assert that Guaymallén will become the municipality with the smallest structure despite being the most populated department.
The main focus of the speech will be on achieving a more efficient municipality with less public spending. It will be argued that this structural adjustment seeks to promote productivity by eliminating unnecessary positions and improving municipal services. It will be emphasized that the restructuring is not politically motivated but responds to a management model aimed at professionalizing the public sector.
This announcement comes in a controversial context, with criticism for high expenses and cases of corruption in the municipality of Guaymallén. The case of Jorge 'El Nene' Carrizo, director of Community Services and Road Education, is specifically mentioned, and his possible replacement by Roberto Munives, former director of the Mendoza Police, is considered. This situation raises doubts about the true intention of Calvente's presentation, labeled by some as a staged act with a prefabricated speech.
