
Local authorities confirmed that the fires in the towns of Epuyén, in Chubut, and El Bolsón, in Río Negro, were intentionally caused. Following a joint investigation between the Río Negro Police, the prosecutor, and experts, three ignition points of the fire in El Bolsón were discovered. According to the governor of Río Negro, bottles were found at one of the locations, which will be examined to obtain more information about the incident and proceed with the investigation.
In statements, the governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, affirmed the presence of accelerant material at the scene and mentioned that from the beginning, there were suspicions of an intentionally set fire. The Fire Incident Investigation Division of the Federal Fire Superintendent confirmed the intentionality of the fire at School No. 9 Mariano Moreno, supported by evidence of human manipulation and accelerant substances in the area.
Governor Torres promised to act firmly and bring those responsible to justice, with the strong intention of penalizing the perpetrators of the fires in the region. For his part, the governor of Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, also confirmed the intentionality of the fires in El Bolsón and committed to thoroughly investigate to ensure that the guilty face the consequences of their actions.
