The ruling party in the Chamber of Deputies has scheduled a plenary meeting of commissions to be held on Tuesday at 2 PM to discuss the project to suspend the PASO elections, with the intention of being sanctioned on February 6. The call for the commissions of Constitutional Affairs, Justice, and Budget and Finance will be formalized by La Libertad Avanza (LLA) shortly, with the aim of signing the report that will be debated two days later in a special session that will also address the proposals for reforming the Criminal Procedure Code in relation to recidivism and Trial in Absence.
The decision to call the plenary meeting of commissions was made after meetings led by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Martin Menem, throughout the week. Menem met last Tuesday with the blocs of the UCR, Encuentro Federal, Innovación Federal, Independencia, MID, Production and Labor, as well as with Santa Cruz. Previously, the Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos, had held a meeting the week before with radicals and the PRO.
It is worth noting that during the meeting, different viewpoints regarding pending projects were discussed, with Francos expressing that 'it is essential to move forward in agreements to achieve consensus on strategic issues for the country'.
