The mayor of Esteban Echeverría, Fernando Gray, shared his opinion on the current situation of the Justicialist Party (PJ), highlighting that the space is more focused on internal issues than on playing a role of opposition. In this regard, Gray pointed out the importance of renewal within the party and the need to incorporate 'new faces' to adapt to the current demands of society.
In an interview on Radio Splendid AM 990, Fernando Gray mentioned that Peronism must be aligned with the needs and expectations of the population, which he considers impossible if the same leadership remains within the party. He also emphasized that it is fundamental for the PJ to renew itself and seek new ways to represent society.
On the other hand, Gray mentioned that his party has not yet spoken regarding the LGBT march on February 1st and commented on the relationship between the governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, and opposition leader Javier Milei. In this regard, he recalled his past statements in which he expressed that Kicillof seemed to be distancing himself from the Peronist principles.
Regarding the legislative elections of this year, proposals have been made to modify the date of the elections in the province of Buenos Aires. Although the provincial government minister, Carlos Bianco, did not rule out the possibility of splitting the elections, Governor Kicillof has not yet made a definitive announcement on this matter, stating that he will communicate the decision once the situation regarding the PASO is resolved.
In this context, Fernando Gray concluded by stating that the mayors have requested Kicillof to hold elections in the province on a different date from the national elections. He asserted that it is vital to listen to the demands of the Peronist base and adapt to them to strengthen the party and its representativeness.
