Journalists Attacked in La Matanza During Coverage

Journalist Ana Ortiz and cameraman Gabriel Sapori, both from the TN channel, were brutally attacked by a group of people at the intersection of Crovara and Roque Sáenz Peña, in La Matanza. "They didn't let us record images or even try to mediate," Ortiz reported. She also detailed the condition of her partner: "Sapori is in worse shape than I am; his eye is swollen and bleeding."

"They came directly to hit us," Ortiz recounted in a live link with the channel. Both journalists were attended to by medical personnel on site. This new episode of violence highlights the risks faced by press workers in critical areas while performing their informational work.

The attack occurred while they were covering a neighborhood complaint about insecurity, linked to the death of a criminal shot by a police officer. The journalists received medical assistance and filed the corresponding complaint at the local police station. "There was no dialogue or warning. They told us 'don’t film anything' and started hitting us," the journalist emphasized.

As the field reporter explained, the aggression happened unexpectedly. "Relatives of a person who was lying on the ground approached, and without time to react, the blows began."
