Milei Meets Trump for Inauguration Ceremony

Argentinian politician Javier Milei visited Argentina in November 2024. Both Milei and former US President Donald Trump share ideological affinity regarding the role of the State, the importance of maintaining a reduced fiscal deficit, low levels of tax pressure, minimal inflation, and absolute freedom for businesses.

During his visit, Milei met with Kristalina Georgieva from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who praised his economic adjustment plans. Milei seeks an endorsement from the IMF to receive between 11,000 and 20,000 million dollars to strengthen the reserves of the Argentine Central Bank and lift financial restrictions.

It is noteworthy that Milei was one of the few leaders personally invited to attend Donald Trump's inauguration at the Capitol. The IMF's technical visit to Argentina will take place after a year since its last presence, aiming to establish new fiscal and reserve targets for the country.

Milei emphasized his alignment with Trump's ideas, thus beginning a new conservative cycle in the world. Unlike previous Argentinian leaders, Milei did not need a political crisis to relate to the White House. During his stay, Milei held informal conversations with Marco Rubio, Trump's future Secretary of State.

At a special event, Milei was awarded as "Titan of Economic Reform," where he reaffirmed his stance on reducing the State. Together with his sister and secretary general, Karina Milei, he traveled to the United States to attend Trump's oath ceremony at the Capitol.

Trump's inauguration was marked by the presence of 800 people at the Capitol Rotunda, as well as prominent technology entrepreneurs. It is expected that, with Trump's return to the presidency of the US, more than 50 executive orders will be signed on his first day in office, covering various aspects such as immigration policies and changes in governmental structure.
