Pope Francis Criticizes Trump's Immigration Promises

Pope Francis expressed his opinion on the elected president Donald Trump, who will take office today at 2 PM (Argentina time), highlighting the importance of prayer as a union among Christians. In a message shared on social media, the Pope mentioned the need for believers to feel united as God's family and emphasized the 'unity of Christians.'

Francisco addressed Trump's statements about possible mass deportations and expressed that it would be shameful if they were to occur. However, the Pope also sent his congratulations to the new leader, expressing his wish that under his leadership the United States may prosper and be a place of opportunity for everyone, without hate, discrimination, or exclusion.

In an official telegram sent to Trump before his inauguration, the Holy Pontiff urged the construction of a fairer society and criticized the arbitrary deportations he plans to carry out during his term. This critical stance adds to previous statements made by the Pope about the outgoing president, whom he previously described as 'non-Christian' for his policy of building walls at the Mexico border. Francis emphasized his desire through prayer that the United States achieves its ideals without harming the most vulnerable.
