The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued a yellow alert for storms this Thursday in several provinces of the country, while in Tucumán, rains will continue throughout the day amid the floods affecting the province, although there is no official warning in effect. The alert, as reported by the Argentine News Agency, covers areas of Río Negro, La Pampa, Mendoza, Formosa, Salta, and Jujuy, where storms of varying intensity are expected, some of which may be locally severe. According to the meteorological agency, these phenomena will be accompanied mainly by heavy rainfall in short periods, frequent electrical activity, occasional hail, and wind gusts that could exceed 70 kilometers per hour. Additionally, accumulated precipitation values of between 30 and 70 millimeters are estimated, although it is not ruled out that higher figures may be recorded in some sectors on a local basis. Persistent Rains in Tucumán Meanwhile, in the province of Tucumán, rains are expected to continue throughout the day in a complex context due to the floods recorded in recent days. Nevertheless, the SMN has not yet included the district in the areas under meteorological alert. Recommendations for a Yellow Alert In the face of such phenomena, the National Meteorological Service has issued a series of preventive recommendations: Avoid leaving home unless necessary. Do not take out the trash and clean drains and manholes to prevent flooding. Unplug appliances and cut off the electricity supply if water enters the home. Close and stay away from doors and windows during the storm. Remove or secure objects that could be blown away by the wind. If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building, a house, or a closed vehicle.
