Strong Storms and Hail in Argentina

The National Weather Service (SMN) has once again issued alerts for various adverse weather events, such as strong storms and possible hail. These phenomena will impact a large part of the country's territory throughout this Thursday. According to the Argentine News Agency, the storm phenomenon with possible hail will affect regions of the provinces of Salta, La Rioja, San Juan, Mendoza, San Luis, and Córdoba. For the yellow alert zone, the SMN indicates that the area will be affected by rains and storms of varying intensity, some locally strong.

These events will be accompanied by heavy rain in short periods, frequent electrical activity, hail, and mainly intense gusts that could reach 70 km/h. Accumulated precipitation values between 15 and 30 mm are expected, which may be exceeded in some areas.

SMN Recommendations: • Avoid going outside. • Do not take out the trash and clean drains and sewers. • Unplug appliances and cut off the electricity supply if water enters. • Close and stay away from doors and windows. • Remove or secure objects that could be blown away by the wind. • If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building, house, or closed vehicle.
