A forest fire in the area known as “La Tapera” in Los Alerces National Park, Chubut province, spread through secondary foci due to the wind. Firefighters managed to contain it, and residents were evacuated. The fire started on Monday afternoon, according to information from local media accessed by the Argentine News Agency. Personnel from the Provincial Fire Management Service, volunteer firefighters from Trevelin, and National Parks workers fought the blaze. Women and children living in the nearest homes were evacuated, while homeowners assisted the firefighters. Ángelo Cárcamo, second-in-command of the Trevelin fire station, spoke to Canal 4 in Esquel and stated that “no structure was lost.” Meanwhile, firefighters from Esquel offered help with two additional vehicles, and four crews with 14 personnel collaborated to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas. Authorities recommended that residents travel along National Route 259 in Los Cipreses due to the movement of emergency trucks, while navigation on the Grande-Futaleufú River was restricted.
