Changes in the Driver's License in Argentina

The national government, led by Javier Milei, has introduced significant changes to the regulation of the Traffic and Road Safety Law through Decree 196/2025, which involves a total of 10 variations. One of these modifications pertains to the Driver's License.

Now, the National Driver's License will not have an expiration date and will be completely digital. To keep it valid, drivers must periodically undergo a psychological and physical examination conducted by authorized medical professionals, either in public or private health facilities registered for this purpose.

The license renewal will be carried out every five years for most drivers, with exceptions such as renewal every three years for those between 65 and 70 years old, and annually for people over 70 years old. Although the physical license will still be issued optionally, the digital license will be the official document and will be available in the "Mi Argentina" application.

Additionally, the update of the psychological and physical examination will be conducted remotely and digitally, automatically reflecting in the digital license. These changes have been implemented to simplify procedures for vehicle users and to stay updated with technological advancements.

In summary, the Driver's License will not have an expiration date, but periodic psychological and physical evaluations conducted by an authorized doctor in a public or private health center will be required.
