In 2025, the Argentine Government has modified the criteria for obtaining and renewing the Unique Disability Certificate (CUD), with the aim of simplifying its processing and establishing new provisions for the benefit of its holders. The CUD is a nationally valid document that allows people with disabilities to exercise their rights and access benefits provided in specific laws.
Holders of the CUD now have the right to a series of benefits, such as 100% coverage for treatments, medications, and equipment related to the certified disability, free transportation on public land transport, access to family allowances, and exemption from taxes and tolls. They are also granted free parking in designated areas, regardless of the vehicle they use.
To obtain the CUD, individuals must undergo an evaluation conducted by an interdisciplinary Evaluation Board, which will determine its issuance. All certificates, both digital and printed, will have an update date in 2025. Additionally, if the functioning profile of a person with a disability changes, only the CUD needs to be updated instead of being completely renewed.
Among the new features, it stands out that the CUD can be issued without an expiration date for those who meet certain criteria, avoiding the need for periodic renewals. This measure aims to facilitate access to benefits in health, transport, and other services without creating unnecessary administrative burdens.
The National Government has indicated that these modifications aim to expedite the management of the CUD and improve the quality of life for its beneficiaries. The procedure is voluntary and free of charge. The National Disability Agency has provided a one-year extension for CUDs expiring in 2025, except for certificates that have already been extended in previous years.
