Argentina Prohibits Unauthorized Health Products

The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) issued a ruling prohibiting the commercialization of a mentholated ointment and an anti-cramp gel due to lacking the necessary authorizations. The Mentisan ointment, used to relieve symptoms of flu, cold, muscle pain, and insect bites, was one of the products restricted throughout the national territory.

ANMAT indicated that Mentisan, despite promising relief for various ailments, lacks authorization, which puts the health of potential users at risk as its origin and manufacturing conditions are unknown. Likewise, the anti-cramp gel, which contains ingredients such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium to reduce inflammation and relax muscles, also does not have the necessary approval for its distribution and sale in the country.

The ruling published in the Official Bulletin details that both INTI SA Pharmacy and NATU-RAL Laboratory, manufacturers of the prohibited products, are not authorized by ANMAT as of the current date. This measure aims to protect the population from products that could pose a health risk due to insufficient regulation and oversight by the competent authorities.
