The winning piece was selected from 129 submissions from 22 different countries by a jury composed of Martín Caparrós, Carlo Feltrinelli, Leila Guerriero, Juan Villoro, and editor Silvia Sesé, coordinated by Felipe Restrepo Pombo. The award ceremony will take place during the 2025 Querétaro edition of the Hay Festival.

"La hermana" is a narrative in the form of a chronicle-profile that addresses the figure of nun Martha Pelloni, known for leading the fight for justice in the case of María Soledad Morales, a student murdered in Catamarca in the 90s. In addition to this emblematic case, the book explores other causes in which Pelloni has intervened in defense of the most vulnerable sectors of society, such as cases of baby theft.
