Operation in Entre Ríos: 180 cannabis plants found

On Tuesday afternoon, during a control operation on Provincial Route 39, near the entrance to Rocamora in the province of Entre Ríos, personnel from the Basavilbaso police station and the Rocamora sub-police station made a surprising discovery: 180 cannabis plants. The discovery took place after a motorist alerted the authorities about an individual on a bicycle who had entered a field on the south side of the road, about 2.5 kilometers east of the Gualeguay River bridge.

The agents headed to the indicated area, where they discovered a marked path that led them to an improvised campsite. At the site, a 29-year-old man was found along with a backpack and a bicycle. In addition, a tent, a solar panel, bottles, food scraps, and ashes were found, indicating that someone had been camping at the location.

Due to the magnitude of the discovery, the Dangerous Drugs Division of the Uruguay Department intervened at the scene. Forensic examinations were conducted, including photographing, cutting, and weighing the 180 cannabis plants, which together weighed a total of 71 kilograms.

The on-duty prosecutor ordered the identification and release of the detainee, who was subject to the case. Meanwhile, the bicycle was retained in provisional judicial custody while the investigation into the case continued.
