Hospital Workers Denounce Government Claims

Workers from Laura Bonaparte National Hospital reject the government's statement about staffing and services. 200 layoffs have severely impacted patient care and hospital functionality. They demand the return of their colleagues to ensure proper mental health services.

Hospital Workers Denounce Government Claims

Workers at Bonaparte Hospital have denied the information provided by the National Government. They firmly refuse the publication indicating that a new intervention will guarantee the normal operation of the hospital, as the layoffs of 200 workers have significantly affected patient care, the admission of new patients, and the continuity of treatments and services.

They emphasize that the layoffs have complicated the ability to provide care both in the Emergency Room and in the National Guidance and Support Line in Mental Health Emergencies, essential services that operate 24 hours a day. Additionally, they point out that non-professional staff performing maintenance, hygiene, security, human resources, and administration tasks are also vital for the functioning of the hospital and have been affected by these layoffs.

Bonaparte Hospital provides care from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through various devices and specialized areas that include outpatient clinics, hospitalization, day hospital, territorial approach, child and adolescent services, and a comprehensive health department covering various medical specialties and care.

Following the restructuring formalized by the Government, workers complain that half of the staff was laid off, which has led to a 60% reduction in the operation of the hospital. This situation has severely affected the continuity of treatments and care for patients, both outpatient and hospitalized.

Despite the Government's claims about the amount of staff in the hospital, workers insist that the figures provided do not reflect the reality of the situation. During the past year, a 20% decrease in staff had already been recorded due to layoffs and resignations. With the additional 200 layoffs, the active workforce has reduced by 40% compared to 2024.

They underscore that each intervention in mental health involves different actions that go beyond medical care, such as interviews, contact with family members, building support networks, among other services. Despite the current situation, workers remain alert and organized at the hospital until the reinstatement of the laid-off employees is achieved.
