The Minister of Security and Justice of Chubut, Héctor Iturrioz, has warned that the fire in Epuyén was an intentional act that endangered the lives of many families and resulted in the destruction of numerous homes. Following the initial investigations, it has been determined that materials were used to accelerate the spread of the flames and cause the disaster.
In a press conference, Iturrioz emphasized that they will seek those responsible and bring them to justice, describing the event as a planned attack and using the same methodology as another prior incident. Similar incendiary devices to those used in previous episodes perpetrated by a group of criminals have been identified.
The minister pointed out that they will not rest until justice is served and that each illegal occupation will be cleared, bringing those responsible before the authorities. Actions will be implemented to combat the fire, including manual work and support from aerial resources of the National Fire Management Service.
Regarding the current situation in Epuyén, it was reported that the left flank of the fire, which spans three sectors, has been recently contained. Firefighters continue their efforts to achieve full control, and patrols will be carried out to detect hotspots in the affected area.
