Audit of Non-Contributory Pensions in Argentina

The national government will conduct an audit of more than one million non-contributory pensions for work-related disability, after discovering that 80% of the beneficiaries did not meet the necessary requirements. The task will be carried out by the National Disability Agency in conjunction with PAMI.

In the last audit, conducted in December 2024, it was found that the majority of beneficiaries did not suffer from the conditions they claimed to have. As a result, 212 pensions being collected by prisoners from jails and 150 by deceased individuals were canceled.

This new audit is part of the government's strategy to strengthen controls over state benefits, such as the verification of work-related disability conditions. According to the Official Bulletin, the Executive explained that the regulation is based on standards developed by experts in legal-labor medicine and specialists in damage assessment and health conditions.

The evaluation involves a qualitative assessment of the psychophysical deterioration of the applicants, identifying conditions that may be the cause of work disability for the granting of the benefit. In the first stage, a detailed analysis of each pensioner will be conducted, and a medical evaluation will be carried out by PAMI professionals on the ground.

Subsequently, the collected information will be processed to determine if the beneficiaries meet the necessary requirements to receive the pension, issuing definitive rulings that will decide the continuation or suspension of the benefit.
