New Healthcare Structure Launched by PAMI

The new phase of PAMI emphasizes an exclusive care structure in six centers, located in the province of Buenos Aires and Rosario, as established in the brochure. It highlights that the high-complexity hospital Esteban Echeverría, present the previous year, does not appear on the list. Among the highlighted centers are Hospital Bernardo Houssay in Mar del Plata, Unidad Asistencial Dr. César Milstein in CABA, Policlínico PAMI I and II in Rosario, Hospital del Bicentenario in Ituzaingó, Hospital PAMI in Hurlingham, and Clínica PAMI in Lanús, formerly Estrada.

The PAMI structure consists of more than 600 Attention Agencies and 38 Local Management Units, where various services and personalized care are offered, with more than 8000 Primary Care Physicians and 17 thousand providers. It is emphasized that the Comprehensive Medical Care Program of PAMI provides benefits such as free medications, primary care physicians, and exclusive health centers.

Regarding the care structure, PAMI has its own hospitals and health centers equipped with state-of-the-art technology and professionals specialized in the needs of older adults. It emphasizes the work of providing medical and social assistance, special care, medication coverage, and trained professionals throughout the country.

Concerning staff cuts in the health sector, it has not yet been reported how this measure will affect PAMI's areas of coverage. The Ministry of Health announced that it will not renew 1,400 contracts, framing this action within a restructuring process. This decision adds to the 30% cut in political positions made at the beginning of the year, without affecting the development of health functions.

In another aspect, it is highlighted that PAMI will continue to offer the University Program for Integrated Older Adults (UPAMI) to improve the quality of life of retirees and pensioners. Through free educational courses in more than 50 academic institutions, it encourages members to stay active and share activities with their peers, exercising their minds and participating in various disciplines. The course modalities are in-person, virtual, or mixed, including options such as dance, crafts, technology, gymnastics, languages, literature, yoga, and theater, among others.
