During the weekend, the Tigre and José León Suárez branches of the Mitre railway will not reach the Retiro terminal, ending their journey at the Belgrano C and Belgrano R stations, respectively. The closure of the terminal is due to ongoing works. Trenes Argentinos announced that there will be limited service on its three electric branches from Saturday, November 16 to Monday, November 18, inclusive, due to the works on the entrance to Retiro.
During the weekend, the service to Tigre will only run between Belgrano C and Tigre, the José León Suárez branch will operate between Belgrano R and Suárez, and the Bartolomé Mitre will connect Belgrano R with Mitre. These tasks will be carried out under the framework of the Railway Emergency declared by the National Government, aimed at improving safety in railway circulation.
The mentioned works include lateral and transversal channeling of the track layout for the crossing of signaling and fiber optic wiring. The work will be carried out over the weekend to minimize the impact on the number of passengers. In case of bad weather, the work could be suspended.
Last year, the terminal station remained closed due to works on the signaling that affected the speed of services in the area where the different branches join to enter the terminal. The Mitre line has 5 branches and a total of 56 stations. The renovations on the accesses to the Retiro station have restricted the operation of trains on the J. L. Suárez / Bm.Mitre branch.
