March for Justice in Tucumán Following Young Woman's Brutal Murder

Relatives, neighbors, and friends of Erika Antonella Álvarez, the young woman found murdered in a landfill in Tucumán province, have called for a march this Monday to demand justice and for the investigation to advance to apprehend the perpetrator of this brutal crime. According to a flyer spread on social networks, the march will take place this Monday, January 12, at 7:30 PM in Plaza Independencia, located in the center of the provincial capital. “Antonella deserves justice. No more deaths in silence,” stated her close ones, as well as various groups against sexist violence and femicides, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. The 25-year-old victim was found on Thursday, January 8, in a landfill in the Manantial Sur area by two women who were cleaning and found a bag of waste containing a body, for which they alerted the police. The autopsy confirmed it was a violent death and that the young woman suffered severe blunt blows to the head and face, suggesting it was a femicide. Currently, there are no detainees or suspects, although investigators are focusing on Álvarez's current partner and her ex-boyfriend.
