The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, confirmed today that there will be "exemplary sanctions" for those responsible for starting the fires at various points in the province, while the justice system has already gathered enough evidence to determine that they were intentional. "We are working with a level of professionalism and coordination with the Nation and federal forces that has not occurred for a long time," highlighted the official. Likewise, he stated that "we are convinced that we will find those responsible and that there will be exemplary sanctions," in line with judicial authorities, who have found various elements in the fire areas to confirm that they were intentional acts. In statements to the press, accessed by Noticias Argentinas, the provincial governor stated that in Puerto Patriada "more than 3,000 hectares have already been affected," and added that "many neighbors have carried out silent and decisive work so that the fire could be contained and we are not talking about a much worse situation today." "Although the fire is now more subdued, it is still a dynamic situation, subject to changes due to weather conditions," he said, and confirmed that this Saturday water-dropping planes from Chile will join the operation. Additionally, Torres confirmed that there are currently two active hotspots: one in Los Alerces National Park, on the way to Cholila, with no homes at risk, and another in El Hoyo, where the greatest effort of the brigades is concentrated: "the next few hours are critical days due to the wind and temperatures," he explained. Regarding the hotspot in Los Alerces National Park, Torres clarified that it "was accidental, due to an electrical storm," and announced that drilling is being carried out in Cholila to guarantee the water supply.
