Traffic for all types of vehicles has been allowed, but visibility is low due to dense smoke from wildfires. On Thursday night, alarming videos surfaced showing the advance of an uncontrolled forest fire that reached National Route 40. For this reason, the Municipality of Epuyén announced that the road was cut off in the sections in front of Letras Corpóreas and Puente Apablaza, as well as at the Epuyén viewpoint. However, according to the Argentine News Agency, National Road authorities announced on Friday morning that traffic on Route 40 has been reopened for all vehicles, but drivers must travel with 'extreme caution' due to reduced visibility in some areas from wildfires and emergency services in the area. This is the Epuyén - El Hoyo section that had been affected by the proximity of the flames, and although it is now open, drivers are asked to respect the instructions of security personnel on the road and to drive carefully and with caution. More than 200 provincial and national brigades continue to work in a coordinated manner in three affected areas of the Chubut mountain range, with the support of air assets, logistics personnel, volunteer firefighters from the entire province, Road teams, security forces, and the Unified Regional Fire Management Command, which is already fully operational. It was confirmed that on Thursday afternoon, the provincial emergency operation evacuated residents of the La Angostura area preventively, as the fire advanced and to safeguard the safety of the families.
