El Hoyo's Mayor, César Salamín, commented on the forest fires in Chubut, which have already consumed over 2,000 hectares. He noted that a similar situation happens every year but urged residents and tourists not to panic. According to Salamín, at least 10 houses and other infrastructure have been burned by the relentless fire. The provincial government has offered a 50 million-peso reward for information on those responsible. Authorities have set up shelters and are continuing to fight the fire in the Comarca Andina and Los Alerces National Park, where at least two intentional fire sources have been confirmed.
