8 Years Later: The Murder of Fernando Pastorizzo in Argentina

Eight years have passed since the murder of Fernando Pastorizzo, a young man who was shot twice and killed by Nahir Galarza, then 19, in the city of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos province. The perpetrator is serving a life sentence.

During the early hours of December 29, 2017, Galarza shot her boyfriend twice in the back on General Paz Street, between Pueyrredón and Artigas, where his body was found next to his motorcycle.

On July 3, 2018, Nahir was found criminally responsible for the crime of aggravated homicide due to the relationship, and it was ruled out that the victim had exercised violence against the accused. She became the youngest woman in Argentine judicial history to receive such a sentence (19 years, 7 months, and 21 days).

The Casación Penal Chamber of Concordia upheld the sentence, while the Superior Tribunal of Justice of Entre Ríos denied the appeal against the imposed penalty. The Supreme Court of Justice upheld the sentence against the perpetrator of the crime, meaning she will not be released from prison until 2052 when she is 53 years old, while the highest court dismissed the extraordinary appeal filed by the defense to insist on her innocence.

In 2022, the murderer accused her father, police officer Marcelo Galarza, of the crime of her partner, but the justice system rejected the accusations.

Film and Documentary "Nahir, the secret of a crime" is a two-part documentary that premiered on Amazon Prime Video in June 2024, while actress Valentina Zenere played Galarza in the film "Nahir" on the same streaming platform.
