A truck driver was filmed while making graffiti on the ancient rock formations of Nahuel Huapi National Park. According to the Argentine News Agency, the video, captured by a passerby, not only exposed the damage to the ecosystem but also the violent attitude of the offender when confronted about his actions. The scene of the aggression was kilometer 1598 of Route 40, in an area known as Valle Encantado. "You can't," warned a local resident. "Does it bother you?" retorted the truck driver, trying to normalize the vandalism. When the person reporting the incident began to film the truck's license plate, the driver picked up a stone and threatened the man before fleeing the scene.
Legal Consequences and Remediation Thanks to the speed of the complaint and the video going viral, the Nahuel Huapi National Park Intendancy was able to identify the responsible party and the company for which he works. In this way, an administrative and criminal process was initiated against the driver for damage to natural heritage.
"Does it bother you?" The images, which unleashed the fury of users on social media, show the driver using spray paint on the rocks by the Limay River, one of the most protected areas in the region. The witness who recorded the event tried to stop the damage, but was met with a defiant response from the worker.
