On December 26, 2023, a protest march was organized in Villa Lugano by relatives and neighbors of Gabriel González, who died after a confrontation with police in Barrio 20. Participants gathered at the intersection of Cruz and Escalada streets, demanding justice and clarification from authorities. González, 45, was rushed to Hospital Piñero where a puncturing wound and burns, indicating violence, were found. The preliminary autopsy results are still pending to confirm a possible shooting and police involvement. As the case is being investigated by National Criminal Court No. 20, charges are filed against the officers who took part in the operation.
