Long Weekend Begins: Atlantic Coast Packed with Tourists

The start of the long weekend kicked off with intense traffic to the Atlantic Coast, registering a significant flow of vehicles on the main access roads. Thousands of drivers began leaving the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) early this morning heading to tourist destinations, causing delays on the Atlantic corridor. This movement marks the beginning of what is shaping up to be a major tourist exodus. The steady stream of cars towards the beaches became particularly noticeable at key points on Route 2. Traffic data confirmed the magnitude of the phenomenon: "Over 2,000 vehicles per hour are being recorded at the Samborombón toll booth," sources informed the Argentine News Agency. "Tourism operators showed high expectations for attendance, though lower than in the last November holiday," the sector's outlook was noted. Restrictions on heavy traffic were implemented by the Buenos Aires Provincial Roads Department to try to alleviate congestion and improve road safety, a recurring strategy on dates with massive displacement to prevent the overlapping of large vehicles with cars. Delays are expected to persist and increase as the day goes on.
