A social media user shared a video showing the complicated situation that several drivers face when driving in the reversible lanes of Avenida del Libertador. In the images posted on TikTok, several cars can be seen having to reverse or navigate around the medians in the middle of the road upon realizing that they were in a lane that was currently going in the opposite direction to the one they were taking.
At least four vehicles can be seen in the video performing risky maneuvers after getting trapped in one of the lanes that had changed direction at that moment. This reversible lane measure was implemented several years ago to regulate traffic flow on the avenue according to the times of the day. Despite the intention to organize vehicular circulation, many drivers often get confused and continue in a lane that has already changed direction, which has occasionally resulted in accidents and controversies.
So far, the only warning signals in the area are the signs located at the traffic lights, indicating the days and hours when the lane changes occur. This lack of clarity and awareness on the part of drivers has generated risky situations and conflicts on Avenida del Libertador.
