Discovering La Lobería: A Coastal Gem

La Lobería, also known as Punta Bermeja, is a beach town located in the Adolfo Alsina department in Río Negro. This place serves as a refuge for various coastal and inland birds, among which cormorants, seagulls, and burrowing parrots can be spotted.

La Lobería offers a series of services and facilities for its visitors, including recommended trips by tourism experts to enjoy nature, parking, a café, a restaurant, camping with fire pits, barbecue areas, and a grocery store. It is a destination close to the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, ideal for weekend getaways.

To fully enjoy La Lobería, it is advisable to bring appropriate clothing for the coastal climate, sunscreen, sunglasses, and to check the tide conditions to take advantage of the natural pools that form during low tide. Additionally, it is essential to bring a camera to capture the fauna, flora, and landscapes that this Patagonian corner has to offer.

The name La Lobería comes from the fact that just 3 km away is the protected natural area of Punta Bermeja, which is home to one of the largest continental colonies of South American sea lions in the world. During the breeding season, from November to March, this colony can house more than 6,000 individuals. During low tide, natural rock pools form that are perfect for bathing adults and children.

A particular feature of La Lobería is that it has mobile phone service through Starlink, making it a popular destination for tourists from different regions as well as for residents of Viedma (Río Negro) and Carmen de Patagones (Buenos Aires). The tall cliffs protect beaches with sandy areas, giving this place a distinctive touch located 60 km from Viedma, accessible via provincial route No. 1, which runs along the extensive maritime coast of Argentine Patagonia.
