In the province of Chubut, firefighters are working hard to control the fire in Epuyén and have managed to contain the left flank of the blaze. This Tuesday, the personnel were doing watch duties on the already controlled flank, transferring the remaining crews to areas with greater activity. The National Brigade South of the SNMF, PN Alerces, PN Lago Puelo, Sub of Citizen Protection, and BV of Epuyén have joined this effort, distributing water bombers and a helicopter with a helibucket provided by the SNMF in different sectors such as Patriada, Cholila, Lago Puelo, El Maitén, and Esquel.
According to the Provincial Fire Management Service, the left flank of the fire that started on January 15 near School No. 9 in Epuyén has been declared contained. It is estimated that around 3000 hectares have been affected. The personnel deployed in the affected area are working on hot spots with hand tools, water equipment, and with the support of fire trucks. Volunteer firefighters have also been protecting homes against the reactivation of hotspots.
