The vice president of the Budget and Finance Commission, Carlos Heller, announced that Unión por la Patria will present its own report on the 2025 budget bill to be discussed in the Chamber of Deputies. Heller stated that the government's project presents inconsistencies in the economic projections, casting doubt on the proposed 5% growth.
Heller highlighted that the Unión por la Patria text includes allocations for public national universities of nearly 5.2 trillion pesos, adjustable quarterly according to the CPI, a figure higher than the 3.8 trillion proposed by the Executive Power. Additionally, it proposes to restore the National Teacher Incentive Fund for one year.
In the UP project, an increase of 95 thousand pesos for retirement benefits is proposed, updated by the CPI and applicable to all retirees without discrimination. Heller pointed out that the government's project aims for a model of fiscal adjustment and destruction of the State, in contrast to the vision of Unión por la Patria.
Heller questioned the proposed fiscal rule, arguing that it should consider what to do in the case of a resource surplus to avoid discretion in the use of funds. The opposition deputy emphasized the need to base public spending on the needs of society, generating resources to make it feasible, contrary to the approach proposed by the Executive Power.
