During the month of October, the food basket experienced an increase of 0.7%, marking the smallest increase so far this year. The Colsecor Foundation was responsible for carrying out this survey in 34 localities across seven Argentine provinces.

According to the Foundation, this increase in the food basket is considerably lower than the 3.2% monthly rate that began the year 2024. Moreover, this increase is the lowest since June 2021, when the Foundation began conducting these types of studies.

Despite market expectations, which projected a general inflation rate of 3% for October according to the REM of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, the actual rise was much lower. The Core CPI stood at 2.9% compared to September.

The Foundation highlighted that while the Central Bank's survey covers all aspects of a household's Total Basket, spending on food ends up being decisive due to its significant impact on the overall.

The values reflected by the Colsecor Foundation's survey showed that during October, an adult living alone needed 131,643 pesos to avoid falling into indigence. On the other hand, a family composed of two elderly adults required 197,465 pesos to cover their basic needs.

Additionally, a typical family of three members needed 323,842 pesos, while one made up of two adults and two school-aged children needed 406,777 pesos to stay above the indigence line. Finally, a family of five members needed 427,840 pesos to ensure their subsistence.
