In September 2024, it was reported that Argentina's minerals trade balance had a surplus of USD 257 million, according to data from the National Direction of Promotion and Mining Economy. This amount represented a year-on-year monthly growth of 61.2%, being 30.6% higher than the average surplus of the last 24 months.
The National Secretariat of Energy highlighted that the mining sector continues to be one of the most benefited by the policies of the Ministry of Economy. This good performance is reflected not only in the numbers but also translates into the generation of foreign currency for the government.
In the words of a spokesperson from the Ministry of Economy: "The Argentine mining sector continues to demonstrate its strength and contribution to the national economy. These positive results are the result of joint work between the public and private sectors, as well as the measures implemented to encourage investment in the mining industry".
With this encouraging outlook, the government continues to bet on the development of mining as a fundamental pillar for the country's economic recovery. The generation of foreign currency and the boost to productive activity are key in the government's strategy to strengthen the Argentine economy.
