According to INDEC, in October, a typical family needed to earn 986,586 pesos to surpass the poverty threshold. During the same month, the basic food basket (CBA) experienced a monthly increase of 1.4%, while the total basic basket (CBT) increased by 2.3%. These increases add to an 80.6% and 99.0% rise so far this year for the CBA and CBT respectively, translating to year-on-year increases of 170.6% and 185.7%.
In INDEC's words, "The evolution of the cost of living continues to significantly impact Argentine households." The CBA and CBT continue to show a constant increase, reflecting a worrying scenario for the household economy in the country. With current values, the population must allocate a large part of their income to cover basic needs, highlighting a challenge in accessing healthy food and lifestyle for a significant portion of society.
