The National Airports System Regulatory Agency (ORSNA) has announced the redistribution of nighttime parking positions at Jorge Newbery International Airport. This will allow airlines such as JetSmart and Flybondi access to more parking spots compared to what they had previously.
This measure will take effect starting tomorrow and is the result of a joint effort between ORSNA, the Transportation Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Deregulation and State Transformation. Its goal is to break the alleged monopoly that, according to ORSNA, Aerolíneas Argentinas maintained over the airport's infrastructure.
"A distortion in the market" is what ORSNA has identified in the previous practice, where Aerolíneas Argentinas held the majority of overnight positions at Aeroparque. This would have hindered the fair operation of other airlines, limiting their expansion and affecting the competitiveness of the aviation market.
The allocation of positions is now divided into 31 for Aerolíneas Argentinas, 6 for Flybondi, and 6 for JetSMART. With these new allocations, JetSmart and Flybondi will be able to overnight their aircraft at Aeroparque, improve their access to morning flights, and meet a high demand for this service.
The purpose of this redistribution is to prevent dominant positions from being perpetuated, promoting a balanced use of the airport's resources. In this way, it seeks to optimize the airport's commercial platform to ensure level playing conditions among airlines and elevate the quality of services offered to users.
ORSNA assures that this measure will foster more efficient operations and a better use of the infrastructure, benefiting both airlines and passengers.
