The company Pampa Exploraciones, part of the Lundin and NGEx group, communicated to the Minister of Mining, Juan Pablo Perea, its goal of carrying out 20,000 meters of drilling during the new campaign in Lunahuasi. This drilling season has recently started and has become the most extensive in the history of this place, with the presence of six diamond drilling teams on site, which is expected to exceed the 15,000 meters drilled in previous campaigns.
"This year, the company plans to invest around 90 million dollars to meet its objective," stated Martín Rode, who holds the position of General Manager for South America at NGEx. The company will seek to expand its exploration operations and thus reinforce its commitment to Lunahuasi. The development of this project could represent significant progress for mining in San Juan and for the extractive industry internationally.
According to reports, Lunahuasi, located in the Vicuña District, is a mining project focused on copper extraction and also has the potential presence of gold and silver, thanks to its outstanding structural mineralization. The project is located eight kilometers away from Josemaria, another relevant site in the area.
