The national government aims to achieve a zero deficit and will offer governors a menu of spending cuts to accommodate the needs of provinces and legislators without political bosses, but with influence in Congress.
As part of these negotiations, a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies led by the La Libertad Avanza bloc was suspended due to the ousting of Diana Mondino as Minister of Foreign Affairs, replaced by Gerardo Werthein.
The first steps of these discussions took place with meetings in the Upper House Palace with senators from the radical party and the United Provinces bloc, where the ruling party listened to demands regarding public works, funds, and other issues.
In response to these requests, the government raised the need to cut spending to balance the budget. The opposition, concerned about possible moves from the ruling party, seeks to establish a clear plan for the use of funds, considering the start of the electoral campaign.
In this context, a new chapter begins in the negotiation of the 2025 Budget, which has already been discussed for several weeks in the Chamber of Deputies. The opposition asserts that the government has left them a country in crisis and is preparing to debate the allocation of available resources.
