Sales of used cars in Argentina rebounded in March after the decline recorded in February, although the first quarter of 2026 fell compared to the same period last year. According to Noticias Argentinas, total sales of used cars reached 153,995 units, up from 142,383 in February. Volkswagen Gol and Trend topped the sales list with 8,687 units sold. Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet Corsa and Classic ranked second and third with 6,120 and 4,478 units sold, respectively. Alejandro Lamas, secretary of the CCA, acknowledged that the first months of the year were not as good as in 2025. 'March broke that bad streak. The market recovered volume and was the best month since the year began. This meant an 8.16% annual increase. Compared to February (130,229 units), the market grew by 18.25%,' he stated. Lamas pointed to high tax burden and low profitability as the main issues to solve for the automotive market to recover. 'If we add to this that the interest rates offered by banks are not in line with market demand, the issue becomes more complicated,' he expressed. However, looking at the numbers for the first three months of the year, the cumulative total was below that of the same period in 2025. Between January and March, 437,294 units were sold, a decrease of 5.23% compared to the first quarter of 2025 (461,423 units). Considering the entire provincial territory, San Luis was the province with the highest monthly growth, at 26.23%.
