Argentina's March Tax Revenue Exceeds 16 Trillion Pesos

The Tax Collection and Customs Control Agency (ARCA) reported that tax collection in March reached 16 trillion pesos. According to Noticias Argentinas, the agency, which is part of the Ministry of Economy, stated that the exact figure was 16.017 trillion pesos, an increase of 26.2% compared to the same month in 2025. This growth was driven by the performance of VAT and social security revenues, although with signs of deceleration in real terms. According to data released by ARCA, net Value Added Tax (VAT) collection amounted to 5.619 trillion pesos, a year-on-year increase of 28.7%. The domestic tax component grew by 32.5%, while the customs component advanced by 19.1%. Income Tax recorded revenues of 2.609 trillion pesos, with a variation of 17.1%, remaining below the general average, while the tax on Debits and Credits in current accounts showed an increase of 38.4%, reaching 1.304 trillion pesos. Meanwhile, social security resources totaled 4.451 trillion pesos, with an annual increase of 28.5%, in line with the evolution of formal wages. However, the nominal growth of tax collection was below the annual inflation rate, which was around 33% in the last twelve months, implying a slight real-term fall and marking a moderation in the pace of revenue expansion. In this context, the subtotal of taxes advanced 31.8%, while customs resources increased by 9.5%, evidencing a relative slowdown in foreign trade compared to internal activity. In the accumulated first quarter of 2026, total collection reached 50.640 trillion pesos, with a 22.7% year-on-year rise, consolidating a nominal growth trend, albeit with heterogeneity among the different components of the tax system.
