Argentina Government Announces Intercargo Privatization

The National Government is advancing in the privatization of the state-owned company Intercargo, dedicated to ramp services in the country's airports, and has informed the sale conditions. Minister of Economy Luis Caputo explained on his networks what the bases and conditions will be for this Thursday, March 26, to begin the privatization process of the state-owned company. The official highlighted this privatization as "another step" in the process of "transforming the air commerce sector." Among other measures implemented by the Government in the air commerce sector, he mentioned the deregulation of the market and initiatives that allow the incorporation of new service providers for ground assistance in the country's airports, "to generate greater competition, efficiency, and improvement in the quality of services." According to the Argentine News Agency, the Minister of Economy detailed the privatization process, which will include the full transfer of the company, the total exit of the State from the shareholding, and the continuity of the company as an operational unit, where contracts, licenses, and operations at the different airports where it provides service will be maintained. "With this privatization, we reaffirm that the State must focus on ensuring clear rules of the game, promoting economic freedom, and creating conditions for private investment," Caputo pointed out.
