Canadian giant Saputo has signed an agreement to sell 80% of its dairy division in Argentina, which includes the La Paulina brand, in a high-impact deal for the market for about USD 630 million. The buyer is Gloria Foods, a Peruvian dairy and food products holding, according to the Argentine News Agency (NA). The deal will allow the buyers to receive estimated net income of US$ 400 million, after taxes. The agreement includes two production plants and historical brands such as La Paulina, Ricrem, and Molfino. The Canadian firm will retain a 20% stake, a decision that will allow it to maintain export flows. Saputo is one of the top ten dairy processors in the world: it produces, markets, and distributes a wide range of the highest quality dairy products, including cheese, fluid milk, long-life milk and cream, cultured products, and dairy ingredients.
