The Secretariat of Transport, part of the Ministry of Economy, formally presented a proposal to update the fare tables for national jurisdiction passenger road transport. "This measure seeks to guarantee the sustainability of the system and foster competitiveness in the automotive sector," sources from the Secretariat of Transport told the Argentine News Agency. As a prior step to implementation, the Citizen Participation Instance has begun. This mechanism is fundamental for institutional transparency and allows all interested parties to express their opinion on the proposed values. It has a deadline of 3 business days from the date of publication and the procedure is free. If the tables are confirmed after the public consultation, the minimum bus fare on national services will undergo a staggered adjustment: Starting February 17: The minimum fare will be set at $650. Starting March 16: The minimum fare will rise to $700. This update aims to align costs with services operating within the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, although it is highlighted that the final values will remain below the fares in effect in the Province of Buenos Aires. The policy of focused subsidies will remain in force to protect the most vulnerable sectors.
