The Argentine government has announced a national and international public tender for the private sector to handle the importation and commercialization of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The government aims to step back from direct operations by selecting a commercializer to import LNG and distribute the resulting gas in the domestic market. The operator will use the available capacity of the Escobar terminal, with delivery at Los Cardales. The new scheme involves a single operator who will replace the state, providing greater predictability and efficiency in the service. The measure, established through Official Resolution 33/2026, sets the framework and technical-commercial guidelines for the bidding process. The tender includes a pre-qualification stage to assess bidders' backgrounds and solvency. The winner will be chosen based on the smallest USD/MMBTU premium offered over the TTF benchmark. This system is designed to coordinate vessel scheduling, inventory management, and the use of the floating regasification unit, ensuring operational efficiency.
