How to Travel for Free on Transportation in Buenos Aires

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 9 (NA) -- Traveling in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) during February 2026 presents a new tariff scenario, with a minimum bus fare already exceeding $700. Amid the partial withdrawal of state subsidies, financial platforms and banks have launched aggressive cashback campaigns that can fully offset the ticket cost. According to the Argentine News Agency, the key to easing the financial burden lies in NFC technology and QR codes. A user who first exhausts the Naranja X benefit ($20,000) and then continues with the Modo/BNA ($10,000) benefit can accumulate $30,000 in subsidized travel per month. This is equivalent to approximately 40 free medium-distance bus trips. It is important to note that these benefits are cumulative with the Social Tariff (a 55% state discount) and the SUBE system. The wallet's cashback is applied to the final amount paid by the user.
