In 2025, Argentines significantly changed their consumption habits, increasingly using mobile apps for daily purchases and satisfying cravings. Despite inflation continuing to outpace wage growth, overall retail sales showed a slight recovery of 2% compared to 2024. The main driver of this growth was the explosive rise in e-commerce. The PedidosYa platform recorded a 22% increase in orders year-on-year. Growth was particularly notable in the online supermarket segment, where orders through PedidosYa Markets increased by 21.6%, exceeding the national average for e-commerce by 7 percentage points. Over 50% of all online grocery purchases in Argentina are now made through this platform. One of the year's key trends was the rise of quick-commerce—home delivery in minutes. Nearly one in four orders in the app is for this category, which includes online markets, pharmacies, kiosks, and specialty stores. The PedidosYa Markets segment dominates this area, accounting for more than half of all orders. The gastronomic sector also saw significant growth in 2025, with restaurant orders increasing by 18.5% year-on-year. Analysis of December orders showed a clear preference among Argentines for fast food and local classics. The ranking of most popular items features pasta, empanadas, milanesa, sandwiches, pizza, hamburgers, ice cream, bakeries, cafés, and sushi.
